Grinding
The heart of Matthews Gauge is in grinding. With over 45 years in the business of grinding precision core pins, we strive to meet today’s needs in Plastic & Die Cast molding.
We are able to grind a core pin with a 1.125 diameter head with multiple diameter changes including tapers with a final pilot tip ground to .0100 – .0002 diameter.
Centerless Grinding
- Centerless department 2, 4, 5, 6 & 8 inch machines with in-feed and thru feed capacity
- The diameter range from .012Ø to 1.250Ø
- The surface finish held in the department is 10-12 RMS
- With 10 machines and 5 machinists, our grinding capacity can meet any requirement
- Tolerance can be held within .0001 of an inch
Surface Grinding
Surface grinding is the final step in the process of making a core pin.
We do a variety of services, ranging from simple angles and radiuses to off set diameters and oval shapes.
The flat work is one of our specialties, starting with:
- Square gages
- Square ejector blades
- Square ejectors
- Tool inserts
- Crimp jaws
The grind finish in this department range from 12-14 finish when needed.
Tolerance held ±.0001 when required
Form Grinding
Form grinding is a specialty at Matthews Gauge. We have some of the best form grinders specializing is just making core pins. Years of custom form grinding have made our workers proud of their trade.
The combined experience makes Matthews Gauge one of the most reliable sources in the industry.
The grind finish, in this department, is 12 RMS and better when required with the tolerance of ±.0001 of an inch.
